Wellspring of Life
Friday, October 10th, 2008Compassion Corps has the amazing opportunity to help with water issues in 3 different villages representing 3 different people groups. Two of the villages, Alla Amgalalay & Sanfil Kabara, have wells that are in need of manual pumps. Presently the women lower an animal skin bag down into the well over and over again to bring
up the water needed to fill their buckets. A manual pump covering the well will not only protect the precious water inside from dirt and animal droppings, but it will allow the women to more quickly gather the water they need for a day’s work.
In Toumbouz, one of the largest and most strategic camps outside of Timbuktu, there is need for a well and a pump to be installed. Because the water table in these desert areas is very high, finding water will not be a problem at all. But funds are needed for the drilling of the well and installation of the well and pump. Compassion Corps has committed to seeking out donors whose hearts lead them to give this most precious of gifts…pure, drinkable, wonderful water.
Our call to compassion is this: Help some of those 73% of people in Mali that do not have access to this vitally important resource…WATER! Help a child see his or her sixth birthday. Help a mother have time to get literacy and vocational training instead of spending so many hours in search of water. Help a father provide for his family through a garden that produces vegetables because it is well irrigated.
