Project Description

St. Barnaba Church of Agwata, Uganda, in cooperation with Compassion Corps, commenced work in late July, 2014, endeavoring to construct & equip a health center that will effectively serve to meet urgent & chronic medical needs of the local population. The outpatient center will contain examination, treatment, & counseling rooms, a lab, office, dispensary, waiting room area & covered veranda. There will also be a separate area for public and staff latrines.

CURRENT Project Update

The congregation of St. Barnaba Church has organized a Health Centre Planning & Oversight Committee and has already raised the funds themselves to lay a foundation on the donated land provided by the church. Local construction workers and members of the congregation are ready and willing to provide labor as soon as funds become available to purchase building supplies.

Paint Materials: $25
Help to purchase paint, brushes, rollers, & scrapers
for indoor and outdoor finishes
External & Internal Walls: $50
Help to purchase burnt clay bricks, cement,
mortar & iron strips.
Roofing: $75
Help to provide roofing materials such as beams,
fascia board, soffits & vents.
Plumbing & Electric: $100
Help to purchase wiring, switches, outlets, bulbs,
toilets, sinks, & piping.
Doors & Windows: $250+
Help to purchase doors & windows, including hardware,
keys, & security features.

Short-term trip planning for 2023 is tentative due to the ongoing pandemic. However, we are hopeful of mobilizing a medical team to serve at our soon to be opened Health Center in Agwata, Uganda, in this coming year, so please let us know if you are interested!
