If you were at Penn Oaks Golf Club on May 28th of this past year (2013), you know that the first annual Golf for Compassion event was a huge success! Compassion Corps staff members and volunteers arrived at Penn Oaks early that morning to begin preparing for the day ahead. Sponsor banners were hung, prize bags were stuffed, an entire silent auction and African market place were set up and final details were confirmed with the Penn Oaks staff.
Around noon, the first of the golfers began arriving and the place was alive with the chatter of old friends catching up and new friends meeting each other for the first time. Whether they were there because of years of involvement with Compassion Corps or they were invited by a friend of a friend, each of the participants had something in common – the appreciation for a nice golf course and the desire to be a part of a great cause!
Golf for Compassion gave our golfers the best of both worlds – a championship caliber course and a first class event AND the opportunity to support the work of Compassion Corps, an organization that is truly making a difference in northern Africa!
This year, we’re at it again. We’ve officially announced the date for the upcoming, second annual event.
Whether you come to golf during the afternoon or you attend the evening banquet, program and auction, you won’t want to miss this premier fundraising event. In fact, if you’re not a golfer, we encourage you to save the date anyway and make sure to plan to join us at Penn Oaks for the Cup of Compassion banquet in the evening. Last year, the silent auction and African Marketplace were big hits and this year, we’re preparing for an even bigger and better shopping experience for our guests!
Come prepared to bid on amazing items, including vacation weeks, opera and theater tickets, horseback riding, custom art, handmade jewelry and more.
