Supplies Needed

As teams travel to Africa, each team member carries 1-2 large suitcases full of supplies that will be used to help the needy, bring smiles to many, and encourage those who work there year round. The following is a list of items that we collect throughout the year. You can help resource our team, and in turn serve our African partners, by helping us to collect and organize the following:

  • For gift bags that are given to workers at orphanages and detention centers: nail clippers and files, small soaps and lotions in good condition, small candles and sugarless gum, washcloths, chapstick, pens and small memo pads, combs and hair accessories, small deodorants
  • For gift bags for children: bouncy balls, bracelets, lollipops and Smarties, sugarless gum, combs, socks, small toys and games
  • Gifts for village chiefs and translators: small blankets, knit caps, baseball hats, t-shirts, pocket knives, flashlights, lotions, socks, keychains, hard candles
  • Over-the-counter medicines: Aspirin, Tylenol, Advil, cough drops, eye drops, Neosporin, anti-itch creams, cold and flu medicines, Preparation H, vitamins (children and adult)
  • Craft supplies for work with women: needles, threads, small counted cross-stitch kits, yarn (wool and other types), crochet hooks, knitting needles, beads and beading supplies, scrapbooking supplies
  • Craft supplies for work with children: crayons and coloring books, small rolls of art paper, acrylic paints of all colors, sponges and stamping supplies, glitter glue sticks, paints, and paintbrushes
